Save the Children Job Vacancy: Youth Empowerment Specialist, Bandung - West Java

Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership.
We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SPECIALIST
1 position based in Bandung
The Youth Empowerment Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of all youth empowerment activities related to Google for disaster resilience cities and communities project with its partner in West Java Province. S/he will be responsible for programmatic implementation, monitoring and the development of the project implementation plan align with the budget. S/he will report to the Program Manager, and be supported by finance, administration, including logistic team in Bandung office.
The project aims to improve national and local disaster preparedness by: supporting increased national awareness and planning on preparedness, ensuring primary school children in specific high risk provinces are safer and better prepared for disasters and encouraging children and youth participation in government planning to increase public investment and reduce the risks faced by children.
The post holder shares the accountability to build the most positive and affirming work environment possible and ensure that the management, staffing and culture of the organization are suitably aligned with the mission, evolving goals and strategic ambitions aligned with the Membership Accountability Framework.
Working together with National PDQ team, s/he will ensure quality and timely implementation of a youth empowerment related activities through Quality Benchmark application, regular monitoring, evaluation, accountability mechanism reporting, learning generation, and project documentation.
The post holder will contribute to achievement of the global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as follows:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least Bachelor University Degree or equivalent in a Disaster Risk Management or Environmental Sciences or Social Development or equivalent in a relevant field
  • At least of 3 years’ Youth Empowerment experiences in a both emergency and development contexts, preferably with solid experience in DRR, community-based DRR and Child Protection
  • Have understanding in DRR and familiarization with Climate Change Adaptation
  • Proven expertise on working children and youth with a good skill on child-friendly facilitation and involving children and youth in programming.
  • Good writing and presentation/communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Good analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to work fast, effectively and independently in often high pressure environments, working across number of teams to deliver high communications output.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as in a team as well as to develop and maintain strong relationships other office staffs and beneficiaries.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values, including willingness to abide by and enforce the Child Safeguarding policy.
  • Good understanding of Government structures and functions as well as general operations in Indonesia
  • Having experience working in urban-slum area is preferable
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks
