Save the Children Job Vacancy: National Safety And Security Manager, Jakarta - Indonesian

Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
NATIONAL SAFETY AND SECURITY MANAGER
1 position based in Jakarta Country Office
ROLE PURPOSE
As a key member of the Extended Senior Management Team, the incumbent will ensure the effective implementation and sustenance of safety and security of our staff, beneficiaries and partners. The incumbent will also contribute to the strategic direction and leadership of Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC) as a whole. S/he will develop, review and update the safety and security management plan and SOPs relevant to the changing security context of the operating environment to minimise risks to staff, partners, communities and our programme and organisational assets. It is essential that our staff and beneficiaries can live and operate in a safe and secure environment.
Indonesia’s importance in Save the Children’s regional and global operations means that the incumbent will also be required to contribute to regional and global discussions about Save the Children’s safety and security policies and operations.
He/she in his/her capacity will work with SMT members in shifting the safety and security paradigm of YSTC from compliance to culture through strengthened YSTC’s capacity to achieve the objective to be self-reliance, self-sustain security management in the future.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor degree
  • Relevant experience in security management or related field.
  • Security management related certifications from accredited institution is desirable.
  • At least 3 years of safety and security experience, preferably including managing a small team members.
  • Thoroughly understands the socio-political and security related dynamics of the country, at national level and in areas of YSTC operations.
  • Understands the security related needs, protocols, complexity and values of non-profit national and international organizations.
  • Willingness and ability to understand, adapt and respond to dramatically changing work practices and hours, and support  incoming surge teams, in the event of humanitarian response
  • Experience in conducting Security Risk Assessments and security incident management and reporting.
  • Good networking and contacts with INGOs, UN and relevant stakeholders within the government and a willingness to improve it further 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language
  • Experience of management of diverse and large workforce including effective distance management, performance management and utilisation of capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated use of positive coping strategies in stressful environments 
  • Commitment to Save the Children and YSTC values and adherence to its management system
