Plan International
Indonesia Foundation (YPII) is responding to the Palu Earthquake & Tsunami
disaster on an Orange 2 alert level. The approved Emergency Response Plan
(ERP) ”Meeting The Spesific Needs of
Girls and Boys in the Earthquake Affected Areas in Palu” is for 6
months period and will focusing on 4 (four) key sectors that include SHELTER,
WASH, GIRLS AND BOYS PROTECTION AND EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES.
YPII will be
committed to better understand the varied needs of girls and boys, men and
women, and have those needs and suggestion for responding as a core component
to any sectors design and implementation. In addition, YPII’s response will be
committed to reaching the most vulnerable families by emphasizing the needs of
women and girls. Recognizing that women and girls are vulnerable and
disproportionately suffer from various forms of abuse and exploitation, the
program will seek to actively engage them in program design, planning, implementation,
and monitoring.
The Emergency
Response Plan (ERP), is looking for
dynamic staff to be based in Palu for the position:
Child Protection in Emergency (CPIE) Specialist
JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for technical support
to Plan
International Indonesia Foundation’s (YPII) CPiE
emergency response programme in Palu, with
focus on the areas of (community and IDP camp-based)
psychosocial support and child protection mechanisms, child participation in
child protection and disaster risk reduction. The role has a strong focus on
mentoring and capacity building of CPiE staff of Plan and its partner
organisations in technical components of the program as well as national cluster coordination.
TEHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Profound experience in child protection in emergencies. University degree in
social work, psychology, social sciences or related field. Good knowledge and
understanding of humanitarian principles and established international child
protection standards. Experience in implementing programmes focusing on:
children outside of parental care, psychosocial support, community-based child
protection and/or prevention and response for sexual and gender-based violence.
Proven project management skills, including in monitoring and evaluation for
child protection projects. Proven experience of providing training and capacity
building on child protection technical areas with a variety of audiences.
Skills in participatory assessment.

Knowledge and skills:
knowledge of Plan policies and procedures, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code
of Conduct. Requires general finance, administration, information management
and telecommunication skills and proficiency in information technology/
computer skills. About 4-5
humanitarian experience- field experience in capacity building on CPiE for
organizational and at community level including developing training modules/
manuals; assessment tools with implementing of CPiE at the filed level during
emergency. Experience in working with refugees or IDPs is preferable. Fluency
in English, written and spoken.
Physical
Environment and Demands: Extensive travel, sometimes to
hazardous environments. Periods of intense work at all times of day and night.
Level of Contact with Children: Mid
contact: Occasional direct interaction with children when at the IDPs
camps/evacuation centre
Physical location:
Based in Jakarta with frequent visit to Palu.
Durations: 06 six month
