ASIA-PACIFIC PROGRAMME
The FFI Asia-Pacific Programme is managed by a dispersed team
located in the UK and the region and has country programme offices in Jakarta,
Phnom Penh, Manila, Nanning, Hanoi and Yangoon. Working closely with
local partners, the Asia-Pacific Programme currently includes a broad range of
species and landscape targeted conservation initiatives in Cambodia, China,
Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam. Over 30 projects
are being implemented in the region by a team of approximately 150 staff,
consultants, volunteers and partner organizations with an annual regional
budget of approximately US$ 8 million.
THE OPPORTUNITY
FFI is seeking a qualified
professional to fill the role of Community
Based Ecotourism Consultant FFI Indonesian Program. FFI Indonesian Programme need
position i.e. based in Waisai, Waigeo Island, Raja Ampat – West Papua. You will have qualifications in a relevant discipline and a minimum of two
years’ experience in a tourism role. The consultant will carry out his duties, work in teams, having good communication skills, elaborate and be responsible for the results that are
targeted as optimally as possible in line with framework of FFI Indonesia
conservation program in Raja Ampat.

position based in Raja Ampat (Waigeo) in West Papua. The project focusses on
the ‘conservation of tropical forests biodiversity and poverty reduction
through collaborative management and sustainable community development in
Waigeo’, Raja Ampat Archipelago.

Main Duties:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager Raja Ampat Community Based Ecotourism Consultant will:
- Capacity building for ecotourism planning and management in accordance with environmental and conservation standards
- Prepare and organize training of ecotourism management for communities such as service skills (interpretation and communication), homestay managing, product development (bird watching and kayaking), and good service techniques
- Develop community-based ecotourism packages
- Support for ecotourism business development such as social media promotion, encourage partnerships between local communities and tour operators, etc
- Identify and prepare the requirements for establishing a new business of ecotourism (eg, organizational development, legal, and physical facilities)
- Develop conservation campaign strategy (based on the results of species flagship survey) with Raja Ampat FFI team
- Develop planning strategic for implementation of sustainable ecotourism development in Raja Ampat
- Input planning strategic for the implementation of sustainable ecotourism development to Raja Ampat government (Department of Tourism)
- Carry out the other tasks related to ecotourism development
DELIVERABLES:
- Document of environmental and conservation standards for ecotourism management adopted by communities and ecotourism businesses
- Report on ecotourism management training activities for community
- Document of ecotourism packages
- Social media design (Facebook, Instagram, blog)
- Document assessment of potential and requirement of developing ecotourism businesses.
- Suporting document for conservation campaign strategy development
- Document of planning strategy for the implementation of sustainable ecotourism development in Raja Ampat
- Response reports on input planning strategies for implementing ecotourism development to Raja Ampat government (Department of Tourism)
Qualification:
- Diploma/Bachelor degree in tourism/fisheries/forestry/biology
- 2 years’ experience, but fresh graduates are welcome
- Good english skill (speaking and writing)
- Computer skill (Microsoft Office, Excell, dll)
- Analizing and report writing skill
- Comunication and facilitation skill
- Good understanding about organizing community groups
- Creative and innovative skill
