Communications Specialist

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Canadian Trade and Investment Facility for Development (CTIF)
will support priority trade and investment related capacity building
and policy reforms that have a high potential to reduce poverty in
developing countries in the Asia Pacific. The CTIF is a demand-driven
mechanism that will respond to local partners’ needs through
implementation of mandates/projects.
The
Communications Specialist will be contributing to developing project
marketing materials and writing content for the project website. The
ideal candidate should have a proven track record of success in the
communications sector or related fields, as well as excellent written
and verbal communication skills in English. Preference will be given to
those who also have some experience and skills in Graphic Design.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The
Communications Specialist will report directly to the Project Manager.
Her/his daily work will require that s/he also work closely with Sr.
Communications Advisor/Knowledge Management Specialist and Website
Manager/Graphic Designer. Key responsibilities of Local Communication
Specialist will include:
- To write website content and newsletters and other material to be posted on the project website;
- To support the preparation of press releases, promotional material, and communications with beneficiaries, partners and project stakeholders;
- To contribute to the development of Workplans and project progress reports through identification of priorities in communication/learning activities;
- To assist the team with organizing project events; and
- To anticipate and act upon any additional communication related needs as they arise.
REQUIREMENTS
The
proposed individual should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in
Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field; a minimum
of 5 years experience in communications field; excellent written and
verbal communication skills in English; some knowledge in digital
marketing tactics and social platforms; some skills and experience in
Graphic Design (InDesign and Photoshop); excellent critical thinking
skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems
quickly and effectively.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
The individual must have the following language proficiencies:
English:
- Oral = 4 – Advanced Professional Proficiency
- Reading = 4 – Advanced Professional Proficiency
- Writing = 4 – Advanced Professional Proficiency
PROJECT’S SPECIFIC CONDITIONS: based in Jakarta; LOE is 175 days throughout the life of project.
