CWS International Job Vacancies: Social Worker PURE Plus Project - Jakarta (6 Persons)

CWS Indonesia is an international relief, development, and refugee assistance agency that has been operating in Indonesia for many years under an agreement with the Ministry of Social Affairs. CWS Indonesia is the field office of CWS, Inc., headquartered in New York. CWS assists the most vulnerable, regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

Since 2008 CWS has been implementing the UNHCR funded PURE program for refugees and asylum seekers in Jakarta. PURE assists refugees and asylum seekers, including Unaccompanied Children (UAC), to access basic services such as health care, and provides skills training and education programs. With support from BPRM and DIBP CWS is further expanding assistance to UAC and is therefore looking for candidates to fill the position.

JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent requires knowledge of social work theories, practices and procedures, particularly in child and adolescent care.

The incumbent must be flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively in a variety of settings and in a cross-cultural situation and be knowledgeable of the risks and needs of children and adolescents in accordance with their age. Under the overall supervision of Deputy Program Manager and guidance of Child Protection Officer, the incumbent is expected to ensure basic needs support for unaccompanied children, including provision of decent and safe housing/shelter and other basic necessities.

RESPONSIBILITY & TASKS:
Support in managing the Unaccompanied Children’s shelter
  • Provide assistance to assess, plan and provide necessary services at unaccompanied children’s temporary shelters in coordination with relevant staff
  • Be responsible in timely delivery of shelter supplies, hygiene supplies, and other assistance to unaccompanied children under CWS care and assistance
  • Assist and coordinate with Sr. Operation Officer in supervising the daily activities of Security guards at shelters to ensure the safety and security of the children and the shelter
Unaccompanied children’s activities
  • Conduct risks and needs assessments using Heightened Risk Identification Tool and child-friendly interview techniques
  • Act as a guardian to unaccompanied children and be responsible for appropriate intervention/referrals to ensure unaccompanied children’s safety
  • Coordinate with relevant staff/section to ensure standard of living in unaccompanied children shelters are adequate for children’s physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development
  • Maintain individual case files with all updated information and background of the child
  • Act as an advocate for the child proactively
  • Be alert to possible risk factors and vulnerabilities affecting children and act and report upon signals of any harm, abuse or danger
  • Assist Program Officers in organizing or conducting activities for unaccompanied children at shelters and centers
  • Provide assistance to unaccompanied children in accessing services such as health facilities, education and skills/training and sports/recreational, etc
  • Support unaccompanied children forming groups and mobilize them to maintain the shelter clean and tidy
  • Be responsible for organizing and conducting targeted activities for unaccompanied children inside or outside the unaccompanied children shelters
Documentation & Report writing
  • Provide regular progress report on unaccompanied children’s activities in the shelter/ rent rooms to Program Officers
  • Keep the records of items provided to unaccompanied children’s and ensure timely delivery as required Provide brief reports on shelter/ rent rooms’s condition and needs of shelter supplies to Operations Officer
Others
  • Do other tasks as requested by Deputy Program Manager and Program Manager
REQUIREMENTS :
  • Hold Diploma (D3) in Social and Politics, Humanities, Social welfare or relevant field
  • Ability to work in a cultural and gender-sensitive manner,respecting diversity in its all forms, including religious minorities, socio-economic situation, sexual orientation and ethnicity
  • Experience in child and adolescent care and implementing activities addressing child’s physical, mental and emotional developmental needs
  • Abilities to communicate and interact with refugee children from various nationalities clearly and effectively
  • Possess computer skills, including internet-based communication/and various office applications (Microsoft Words, Excel, MS Access and Power Point)
  • Able to work in a team and work harmoniously in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience working with INGO or International environment is beneficial
  • Abilities to handle stressful situation and willingness to work outside working hours when there is a need
  • Willingness to act as a guardian to unaccompanied and separated refugee children and adolescents from different nationalities
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is essential Knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Arabic/Urdu will be an added advantage
