Lowongan Program Officer – Creative Arts and Design Professional Practicum, Jakarta

Program Description

In January 2017, ACICIS will launch its pilot iteration of the Creative Arts and Design Professional Practicum(CADPP), with support from the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan. Modelled on the consortium’s highly-successful Journalism, Business, and Development Studies Professional Practica, the Creative Arts and Design Professional Practicum (CADPP) will consist of a two-week intensive block of Indonesian language study and contextual studies at an ACICIS Indonesian partner university, followed by a four-week industry placement at a participating Australian, international or Indonesian host organisation.

The program consists of a two-week academic program hosted by Atma Jaya Catholic University Jakarta, followed by a four-week industry placement. The academic program is a mixture of Indonesian language  tuition (40 hours) and seminars on contemporary and creative arts and design-relevant themes (20 hours).Following the language study and seminar series at the ACICIS Indonesian partner university, students will undertake a four-week industry placement under the supervision of a workplace mentor.

The professional practicum placement will involve Australian students collaborating with Indonesian peers and creative practitioners to produce work including, but not limited to: short films, animations, sound and video art, websites, online installations, blogs and social media apps. Practicum host organisations will include both local and international companies and organisations operating in Indonesia’s creative economy. Opportunities will exist for placements in sectors as diverse as advertising, new media, fashion design, and film and television production.

As an accredited university program, the CADPP is designed to meet requirements for work-integrated  learning modules and other practicum-based course components. In addition to their language study, seminar series and work placements, students are required to complete a 2,000-word report on a contemporary issue in the Indonesian creative arts and design sector as well as to create a digital portfolio/poster/artwork contextualising the student’s creative discipline within the Indonesian context, analysing their experience on the CADPP and the work of their Host Organisation. The CADPP is a competitive entry program with a limit on the total number of participants (25-30 participants per program).
