Job Description

Background:
The Sulawesi Economic Development Strategy Project (SEDS) is a 5-year, $4.6 million project funded by the Government of Canada and Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, and implemented by Humber in partnership with seven universities in North and South Sulawesi, Indonesia. SEDS will develop the capacity of seven universities to design and deliver applied entrepreneurship academic programs, provide support services directly to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and support networking with SME stakeholders. Through a train-the-trainer approach, the project will develop each university’s capacity to deliver applied entrepreneurship study programs or courses that produce graduates able to start their own businesses. 

Applied Entrepreneurship Curriculum Design and Delivery Workshop Roll-Out
Humber seeks an experienced advisor to be responsible for the Roll-Out of a workshop for Applied Entrepreneurship Curriculum Design and Delivery to post-secondary institutions. The workshop is anticipated to be delivered to 30 lecturers for 10 days. The workshop will be based on previous SEDS workshops already delivered on Design and Delivery of Applied Entrepreneurship Curriculum. Lecturers trained by SEDS will design and deliver the workshop. Lecturers from new partners will participate in the Roll-out workshop. The activity will take into account the needs of the new partners and lessons learned throughout the SEDS project to date. 

Roll-Out

Objectives:
  • To increase the capacity of roll-out partners to design and deliver applied entrepreneurship curriculum;
  • To consolidate the ability of established partners to:
    • Conduct a training needs assessment design applied curriculum to address identified training needs deliver a workshop using applied learningtechniques;
    • Assess learning outcomes
  • To broaden the network of SME actors connected with the SEDS project;
  • To create new opportunities for collaboration between entrepreneurship-promoting post-secondary institutions in Sulawesi.
Assignment Details:
Reporting to the Field Manager, the advisor will be responsible for:

Establish selection criteria and selection process to Identify new partners for the Roll-out workshop, workshop facilitators and workshop participants

Design and conduct needs assessment

Support selected facilitators to set Learning Outcomes, design training based on needs assessment & lessons learned & design M&E tools for assessing results

Ensure logistics & support workshop delivery

Write workshop report

Duration of Assignment: April to September 2016 – approx. 3 days/week

Deliverables:
  • monthly report outlining progress, challenges and recommendations per activity
  • final workshop report according to format provided by SEDS
Ideally the advisor will be based in Manado or Makassar and travel as needed.

Job Requirements
  • MA in a relevant field
  • Good planning and coordination skills 5 years’ experience working in projects focused on entrepreneurship or skills development
  • Experience working with universities in Indonesia
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurship in the post-secondary education sector in Indonesia
  • Experience building partnerships
  • Excellent communication skills (English and Indonesian; written/spoken)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to use technology
