The SUMMIT Institute Job Vacancies: Evaluation of EMAS - 3 Positions, Mataram - NTB

The SUMMIT Institute of Development (SID) is offering exciting opportunities for professionals who are interested in pursuing careers in public health and international development in Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) Project

SID is a non-profit research and service delivery organization that committed to saving lives through the improvement in health and human development at the community level through participatory evidence-based decision-making and sustainable action.

The USAID/Indonesia Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) project, is a five-year program to support the Government of Indonesia to reduce maternal and newborn mortality. EMAS works with Indonesian government agencies, civil society organizations, public and private health facilities, health professional organizations and private sector. The EMAS program is being implemented in over 150 hospitals and 300 community health centers in six provinces (Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra and South Sulawesi) with the largest concentrations of maternal and newborn deaths.

The two aims of the projects are to improve the quality of care of public and private health facilities for maternal and newborn health and the efficiency and effectiveness of referral systems for maternal and newborn health.

To answer these aims, we are inviting the strong, dynamic, passionate, driven and persistent professionals to join our team as:

PROGRAM MANAGER – Code P01

Program Manager will be responsible for planning and supervising the field implementation, overseeing the day-to-day activities and ensuring that the targets are achieved on a daily and weekly basis, supervising and controlling the budget use within-study and ensuring that the budget disbursement meets the need, as well as responsible in documenting all aspects of the specific study and develop the monthly report.

Project Managers will be working closely with upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, as well as other departments for support.

Requirement:
  • Holding at least Master Degree with minimum 3 years of experiences, preferably from Public Health from reputable university
  • Not a Civil Servant or Government Officer
  • Fluent English speaking and writing
  • Having minimum 3 years experience of leading a project.
  • Having a strong experience in management
  • Having a strong problem-solving skills
  • Having a significant experience on budget and plan management
  • Having analytical ability and excellent skills in statistics software (SAS, STATA, SPSS) to analyzing data and making decisions that affect the project on a regular basis.
  • Willing to travel to all of the study sites
FIELD MANAGER –Code F02

You will be joining the EMAS evaluation team as one of the six Field Managers located in 1 of the 6 EMAS participating provinces: Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi and North Sumatera. Under the direction of the study Program Manager, you will oversee the day to day management of both the clinical and field teams, including staff supervision, data collection oversight and management, ensuring that all data collection occurs according to study protocol, data collection procedures and documentation standard.

In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring all administrative duties and tasks are completed to the specified expectations of SID and the EMAS evaluation team. You will also be expected to assist in data reviews and checking to ensure completeness and accuracy of information, data cleaning and data entry and followup with evaluation staff to resolve problems or clarify data collected.

Requirement:
  • Holding at least Master Degree in either Health/Education/Science or social field from reputable universities
  • Not a Civil Servant or Government Officer
  • Fluent English speaking and writing
  • Having the ability to liaise and manage relationship with healthcare and EMAS evaluation staffs
  • Having the ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills
  • Having the ability to demonstrate experiences in fieldwork/data collection
  • Preferably for having a research and evaluation experience including data analysis methods and use of statistics software (SAS, STATA, SPSS)
  • Having a strong communication skill (in English and Bahasa Indonesia)
  • Willing to be placed in 1 of the 6 EMAS participating provinces as mentioned above
CLINICAL EVALUATION TEAM - Code E01

As part of the clinical team, you are primarily responsible for conducting all clinical assessments including labor and delivery observation, facility inventories and referral case tracking in 1 of the 6 EMAS participating provinces. You will be required to travel to various participating hospitals and puskesmas located in the selected district within a province.

Involvement in this evaluation will bring you into contact with leading international and local health organizations and you will gain exposure to the large scale on Maternal and Child Health Programs and develop your experience in conducting rigorous evaluations. This role is a full-time short-term contract and requires applicants to be available & deliver observations in facilities from May to August 2016.

Requirement:
  • Graduated midwife field, with 2-year clinical experience, will be an advantage
  • Not a civil servant or government officer
  • Strong experience in clinical assessment
  • Strong computer and database skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (in English and Bahasa Indonesia)
  • Preferable domicile on one of the province where the study located
  • Willing to be placed in 1 of the 6 EMAS participating provinces
