Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari Job Vacancy: Environmental Education Staff - North Sumatra

Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL) is one of the non-profit organizations that acts to protect the environment and forest ecosystem in North Sumatra and Aceh

YEL is established in Medan, Indonesia since 2000. YEL has some research stations about flora and fauna, one of them is located in Batang Toru Forest in Tapanuli, North Sumatra.

For education environmental program in Batang Toru Project, YEL is looking for Environmental Education Staff.

Environmental Education Staff

Working area: North Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli.

Domicile in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra.

Work system: 3 weeks in the field (Tapanuli) and 1-week days-off

Reported to: Coordinator of Environmental Education

Task and responsibilities:
  • Taking part in school visits and church visits (Catholic and Protestant church) for environmental socialization.
  • Presenting socialization material such as PowerPoint presentation, poster, leaflet, etc.
  • Analyze the pre-test and post-test of the school visit (data input).
  • Coordinating with the church stakeholders for our program.
  • Built the good networking to all stakeholders in the field (government, schools, church, others NGO, students, etc)
  • Translating files or campaign material (books, documentary film, leaflet, poster, etc) from the Indonesian language to Nias language.
  • Write the monthly report, quarterly report, and annual report. Or others report if needed.
Salary: Based on experiences and skills

Requirements:
  • Prefer Nias Ethnic, age 22-40 years old
  • Able to speak Nias language and good in Nias written language
  • Prefer Christian Protestant/Catholic Religion as the staff is supposed to work with Catholic/Protestant Church, and understand to write campaign material according to the bible/Christian believes.
  • Willing to do activities/events in the church building and built good networking with church leaders.
  • 1-year experience as a conservation educator or Diploma/Bachelor in Forestry Science, Biology, Anthropology or relevant education.
  • Basic knowledge about forest ecosystem and endangered species (IUCN red-list)
  • Good understanding and responsibility to protect the environment and forest
  • Strong skills in presentation for children and adults.
  • Able to write reports (monthly report, quarterly report and annual report)
  • Responsible for the task and have initiative for work
  • Committed to working in a team
  • Good computer skills (Ms. Word, Ms. Excel, Ms. Power Point, Internet, and E-mail)
