Project Officer, Surabaya
The Support to
Islamic Leadership in Indonesia (SILE) / Local Leadership for Development (LLD)
Project, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development
(DFATD) Canada and the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) and executed by the Canadian consultant firm
Cowater International, is designed to build the capacity of a) selected State
Islamic Universities (UIN) in their community engagement function with local communities, and b) the
Ministry of Religious Affairs to effectively integrate democratic governance
practices in its strategies, programs
and budgets.
Reporting
directly to the Canadian Team Leader (CTL), the Project Officer based in
Surabaya will have as key
responsibilities, in working closely with all key units of the partner UIN
Sunan Ampel Surabaya, including the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and the LPPM,
the following:
- Maintain regular communication with the CTL and other key members of the Project advisory (Cowater) team
- Provide support for planning, implementation and monitoring Project activities and work in a supportive and facilitative mode with UIN partners, CSOs and communities
- Develop harmonious relationships, work and coordinate closely with PIU and Project advisory team members and consultants on all Project components
- Assist, organize and follow-up on RBM application and PMF data collection under the direction of the RBM specialist
- Contribute to information gathering concerning the Knowledge Management, Gender Equality, Environmental Management and Sustainability (including plans) strategies, and promote the implementation of these strategies.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports and contribute to annual work plan development and review
- Review financial reports before transmittal to the Jakarta Cowater office
- Assist in planning, organizing and delivery of capacity development activities (work sessions, seminars, training events, etc.)
- Provide assistance in identifying local consultants and in consultation with the PIU and the LPPM in drafting TORs for specific Project activities
- Contribute to the follow-up and monitoring of Project activities and particularly CD activities and document lessons learned and promote good practices.
Qualifications
- S2 in field related to project management, local governance, adult education, community development
- At least 10 years of work experience preferably in the higher education sector and with CSOs, particularly in the area of community development
- Experience in democratic governance principles and practices
- Strong at building relationships and using facilitative approaches
- Good knowledge of Results Based Management (RBM)
- Experience working in the context of donor-assisted projects and working with multi-disciplinary / multi-national teams
- Strong Indonesian language communication skills and a very good command of spoken and written English
