Adviser for Renewable Energy/Advisor for Renewable Energy

The Renewable Energy Support Programme for ASEAN (ASEAN-RESP) is jointly implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the GIZ. The project supports regional exchange to improve framework conditions for renewable energy (RE) in the ASEAN.

GIZ is seeking qualified candidate for one Advisor in the field of Renewable Energy (RE) and/or Energy Efficiency and Capacity Building. Assignment period: asap until 30 June, 2016 with a possibility for an extension.

Scope of work:

• Prepare and implement ASEAN-RESP project activities in coordination with the GIZ Principal Advisor and the project partner.
• Assist in elaborating policy recommendations, determine bottlenecks and recommend alternative courses of management action and coordinate project consultants keeping in mind the overall project progress
• Initiate public and private sector stakeholder cooperation within the ASEAN region through liaising with stakeholders and devising mutual development initiatives;
• Communicate with partner projects in the ASEAN member states as well as with other (international) cooperation partners, especially on Human Capacity Development (HCD) related matters;

Required experience: the ideal candidates bring in-the following:

• In depth technical knowledge and understanding of the renewable energy sector, in particular the RE and EE sector in ASEAN member states as well as international activities in the sector;
• Deep understanding of the latest technologies for RE and EE which is based on at least 3 years  work experience in the sector;
• Network within the RE community of the ASEAN region, if possible sustained with working experience in several ASEAN member states (project developers, investors, authorities, utilities etc.);
• Experience in implementing renewable energy projects; experience in energy efficiency is a bonus;
• Experience in conducting workshops and training activities in the RE sector;
• Experience in cooperating with private companies (international and Indonesian) other relevant state entities and important service and technology providers in the energy private sector
• Excellent knowledge of English, including writing capabilities  
• Working experience with GIZ is preferable.

Educational background:
a science orientated master’s degree, with good understanding of socio-economic aspects of energy or a social science degree at master’s level, with a very good understanding of the technical aspects of RE and/or EE development.
