We are currently looking to fill the following position for our office in Jakarta:
SLP Communication Manager
Job Summary:
The
SLP Communications Manager is a communications and media expert who will ensure
that SLP’s messaging and style is appropriately adapted for national/regional
audiences, while maintaining consistency with the global brand. The SLP
Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing an
effective communications strategy for SLP that reflects the program’s major
activities, accomplishments and targeted awareness-raising needs. S/he is also
responsible for overseeing and implementing an effective media outreach
strategy (print and electronic). S/he will contribute communications support
(writing, editing, copyediting, layout, printing, distribution) for programs,
events, and reports. S/he will be responsible for developing text and photos
for reports, newsletters, website content, training materials, tools, and
educational materials, ensuring that they are packaged in the right context and
manner for relevant audiences. The position will work closely with
communications staff based in headquarters, as well as staff within SLP and CI
Indonesia. S/he will oversee short and
long-term staff and vendors (e.g., graphic designers, printers, event
organizers) who are hired to support SLP’s communications work. The position
reports to the SLP - Chief of Party
Responsibilities:
Communications
and Awareness Strategy
·
Oversee
the implementation of SLP’s Communications Component, outlined in SLP’s Year 5
workplan, and provide communications support to all other components in the
workplan.
·
Implement
SLP’s Branding and Marking Plan on all program communications materials,
ensuring compliance with USAID ADS 320 and CI’s strategies and policiesEstablish and maintain related networks of
stakeholders, and reference groups as necessary, including multi-stakeholder
forum/s required to support a long-term finance mechanism for the BHS, and
corporate engagement as directed by BHS partners.
Media
Outreach Activities:

Develop
and maintain relationships with local media outlets (radio, print, and TV) and
form key partnerships to support the dissemination of conservation messages.
·
Develop
a media/outreach plan for SLP to best build awareness, targeting key partners
and audiences through both print and electronic media (website, Facebook,
twitter, etc).
Writing, Editing, Copyediting,
Layout, Distribution of Reports, Newsletters, and Other Communications
Materials
·
Assist with compiling narratives, photos, and maps for
funding proposals and donor reports (weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and final
reports, etc).
·
Oversee,
write, and/or edit communications materials, such as press releases, letters,
SLP News, stories from the field, and donor reports (weekly,
monthly, semi-annual, etc).
Minimum Required
Qualifications:
·
BA
degree in communications with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in
communications, journalism, and/or promotional activities.
·
A
strong command of both Bahasa Indonesia and English, with proven presentation,
writing and editing, and copyediting skills in both languages.
·
Background
and good understanding of principles of graphic design as applied to communications
materials.
·
Excellent
communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to connect with people
from all walks of life
·
A
self-starter who is able to work well independently as well as in a team and
create and implement communications strategies that is effective at reaching
the program’s target audiences.
·
Demonstrated
experience in working with the media, especially with news placement and
awareness campaigns.
·
Computer
skills and experience in relevant software (ie, MS Publisher, PageMaker, Photoshop
and/or similar media programs)
Preferred:
·
Experience in use
of photographic, audio/visual equipment, graphic design programs and
presentations.
·
Familiar with or
have some background in working with NGOs.
·
Prior knowledge and
interest in conservation and environmental issues
