BACKGROUND:

UNICEF seeks a Major Donor Fundraiser to generate significant contributions from individuals who want and are able to make a lasting difference for children in Indonesia.

The Major Donor Fundraiser is expected to manage the major gifts programme which consists of fundraising activities aimed at building personalized relationships with prospects and donors, resulting in solicitations of charitable gifts.


This consultancy is expected to ensure the major gifts programme meets goals and expectations as part of the comprehensive fundraising plan for UNICEF.


WORK ASSIGNMENT:

Under the overall supervision of the Resource Mobilization Manager, the consultant will perform the following duties but not limited to:
  • Implement short and long term plans to initiate a robust major donor fundraising programme for UNICEF.
  • Manage the major gift process including the research, solicitation, and cultivation of prospects and existing major donors. Collect and analyze background information to develop prospect profiles. Manage research and prospect-rating system and perform data analysis to recommend donor’s giving capacity. Responsible for the implementation and tracking of the major donor strategy.
  • Identify and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects able to contribute gifts of over 100 million Rupiah.
  • Contact and meet personally with donors and prospects.
  • Interact effectively and capably with donors and their advisors during the process of structuring their charitable giving.
  • Utilize outreach activities to ensure that individual staff members can cultivate prospects.  This includes planning and arranging meetings or conference calls, establishing assignments, and follow-up communications.
  • Coordinate major gifts cultivation efforts, including maintenance of current donor profiles, identifying new prospects, tracking solicitation activities, and determining donor recognition.
  • Grow the funds from this revenue area by increasing the number of major donors and amount(s) given by current major donors.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the fundraising team to achieve the UNICEF goals.
  • Produce reports on major gifts contacts and fund raising.
  • Prepare written proposals, informational materials, donor agreements, and any other materials needed to secure major gifts.
  • Prepare stewardship reports to donors on the use and impact of their gifts.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget and income projections for upcoming fiscal year.
  • Ensure that best practices are applied in qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor relationships.
  • Project management of donor acquisition and recognition events
  • Mobilizing relevant volunteer resources and building relationships to implement the strategies
Ideal Profile of the consultant:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • At least Eight years of progressive and measurable proven experience in major donor fundraising or a directly relevant sector such as sales, banking or financial adviser. Experience in fundraising or relationship management. Previous experiences of serving high net-worth clients is highly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience in successfully interacting with wealthy clients are essential.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Good sales and negotiation skills
  • Good data analysis and computer skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and major gifts solicitation techniques as well as overall fundraising climate.
  • Knowledge of accounting and reporting rules applicable to non-profit organizations.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter who is able to be both a proactive leader and a hands-on participant in a collaborative work environment focused on achieving results.
  • Experience with major giving strategies and able to think analytically and strategically.
  • Experience with strategic planning and major donor fundraising.
