Position: Research Assistant

Testing Decentralized Monitoring for FP Performance Feedback in Indonesia Project

OVERVIEW:
The project aims to support family planning program implementation through strengthening data decentralization and monitoring and evaluation. The project will be running from 2014-2017 in collaboration with Futures Institute and Universitas Gadjah Mada, and involves international recognized research institutions.

The project is looking for a Research Assistant who will be responsible for assisting research activities embedded within the project. This key position will work closely with and report to the Gadjah Mada University Project Team. The Researcher will be collaboratively working with the project’s Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI based the Faculty of Medicine of the Gadjah Mada University Project Team. 

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Assist in literature and data review, baseline assessments and field studies 
  • Assist in data analyses and report writing 
  • As instructed, assist in communication with stakeholders 
  • Participate in all phases of the project
REQUIREMENTS:
 
Education, experience and technical skills and competencies:
Essential: 
  • Master degree in public health or statistics; equivalent qualifications will be considered
  • Extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training in an area relevant to the research project 
  • Able and experienced in conducting literature review on health and quantitative data analysis using statistical package  
  • Good organizational skills
Desirable: 
  • Undergraduate degree in medicine or statistics
  • Experienced in working as part of an international, multidisciplinary research team
  • Experienced in conducting field studies
  • Proficient in written and oral English
Personal Qualities:
Essential
  • High level inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to communicate with high level stakeholders
  • An ability to adapt and problem solve issues
  • The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and stay good humored
Logistics:
Essential
  • Willing to be positioned in Yogyakarta
  • Willing to travel to provinces and/or districts for data collection purposes
