USAID/Indonesia SOROT

Background
DAI is preparing a proposal for SOROT, an anticipated USAID project to be based in Jakarta. By working through national, or perhaps better “nationwide,” instruments and systems, SOROT will address the constellation of market forces, financial incentives, policy levers, social norms and values driving deforestation and biodiversity loss in order to promote enduring changes in individual and organizational behavior which reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conserve valuable marine and terrestrial biodiversity.

Qualifications Sought
In anticipation of this opportunity, DAI is recruiting candidates for Key and Non-key positions expected in the following:
  • Project Manager/ Chief of Party: Must have sufficient experience providing effective leadership and administration of similar complex and multifaceted national level projects. Must have sufficient experience in Indonesia and a network of stakeholders and institutions key to achieving success under the SOROT project. Advanced degree. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia preferred.
  • Project Manager/ Deputy Chief of Party: Must have demonstrated experience in administration of similar international programs and understanding of Indonesian political practices, culture and norms. Advanced degree and appropriate technical and professional experience to ensure effective oversight of integrated program planning. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia required.  
  • Resource Rights, Governance and Policy Reform: Must have track record of effective public policy development or reform, the design and institution of administrative reforms and information systems, institutional strengthening, and coalition building in the environmental sector. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of how to affect change within the Indonesian governance and policy system. Must be proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Biodiversity Conservation/ Wildlife Trafficking: At least 3 years of experience in preventing and interdicting the trafficking of wildlife and wildlife products, including policy reform, data gathering, surveillance, investigation, prosecution, customs operations, and monitoring related financial flows. Must have experience in supporting the establishment/operations of broad government and/or NGO platforms instituted to share information and coordinate anti-trafficking planning and enforcement actions. Must be proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Institutional Development/ Advocacy Campaign and Social Marketing:  Experience in designing, implementing and leading advocacy and lobbying campaigns, including social marketing, strategic communications, and/or behavior change communications (BCC). May have a background in political campaigning or lobbying and must exhibit commitment to environmental values (i.e. forest conservation, climate change, biodiversity conservation). Must demonstrate familiarity with Indonesian culture and society or have experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
