The Zoological Society of London Job Vacancy: Accountant, Bogor

The Zoological Society of London is an international wildlife conservation organization with a focus on sciencebased and pragmatic solutions. ZSL has been active in Indonesia for about 10 years, with a particular focus on the overlap between industrial development and biodiversity conservation. ZSL’s Indonesia is based in Bogor, West Java, with existing field projects in Jambi and South Sumatera. We are now looking for:

Accountant
Terms and ConditionStart Date : As soon as possible
Duration of Contract : One year fixed-term contract, with potential to extend
Work Area : Bogor with travel to ZSL regional offices in Jambi and Palembang and
elsewhere as required
Hours of Work : Monday to Friday from 09.00 am up to 05.00 pm
Reporting to : Country Managers
Key Internal Relationships : Finance Team and Senior Management in Indonesia, Finance team in ZSL Headquarters in London

Main responsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Country Manager (CM) working closely with the Finance Manager, the Accountant will:
  • Assist the CM to ensure that financial management and accounting procedures meet best practice accounting ZSL and donors standards;
  • With Finance Manager streamline system accounts receivable (Invoicing/billing,etc) and Accounts payable (procurement);
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of all the payments including coding disbursement, cash receipts and Journal entries and advances which are in accordance with ZSL and relevant policies and procedures;
  • With the Finance Manager generate monthly financial reports by specified deadlines to CM and in coordination;
  • Review all payments of subcontractors to make sure the compliance with donor and ZSL requirements;
  • Assist the management of cash flow;
  • Provide support and guidance of accounting work to project’s sub-offices;
  • Coordinate any interim and annual internal and external audits;
  • Ensure the proper accounting, recording and allocation of projects income/outcome;
  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections, cash forecasts and requests;
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end closing and year-end duties such as reconciliations, VAT reimbursements, inventory lists;
  • Prepare and consolidate annual financial reporting necessary to Government of Indonesia;
  • Provide training and coaching to staff when is necessary;
  • Support the Finance Manager in managing and tracking spending to make sure compliance with policy and spending is within the budget;
  • Oversee monitoring account receivable (staff advance account) and payable accounts;
  • Provide monitoring trips and project sub-offices and potentially to subcontract’s offices;
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of supporting document for any transaction;
  • Ensure absolute integrity, high quality and efficiency in executing financial transactions;
  • Assist in addressing financial management issues as they arise;
  • Maintain detailed records for all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner;
  • Carry out other duties when required.
Qualification and skills
A. Essential skills required for this position include
  • Bachelor's degree (S1) from four-year college or university with a minimum of 8 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, with 10 years or more experience highly desirable; 
  • Highly experienced using Microsoft Office particular in Excel, and accounting software such as Sun Systems and Quickbook;
  • Experience with International NGO environment with grants funded management is strongly preferred;
  • Experience in Budget forecasting, accounts payable and account receivable;
  • Experience of International Donors such as USAID/EU-funded projects, understanding of bilateral regulations (SOP) is key;
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred;
  • Good English language skills preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (databases,) and other Microsoft tools e.g. PowerPoint and Word; Trustworthy and high level of professional integrity e.g. to keep personal staff information in strict confidence;
  • Ability to manage large funds as well as multiple income streams.
B. Highly desirable skills include
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds; 
  • Experience dealing with forex, procurement management;
  • Above average communication skills-both verbal and written;
  • Experienced team leader that is considerate and able to influence others;
  • Good wider knowledge of Indonesian financial law including and personal income tax regulations especially PPh Pasal 21;
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and to take initiative;
  • Level-headed in a potentially pressured environment;
  • Commitment and understanding of ZSL Vision and Mission.
