SNV Indonesia - Expression of Interest For Specialists in Sanitation, Agriculture, and Commodities and Climate Change

1) SNV Indonesia is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill anticipated positions in its Rural and Urban Sanitation Programmes:
  • Communication for Behaviour Change experts: preferable background in Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication Sciences). At least 7 years’ experience with Hygiene Promotion Campaigns, Sanitation Demand Creation (notably CLTS approach and/or with STBM programmes) or large scale communication for behaviour change initiatives targeting rural communities.  Ability to conceptually design and adjust communication strategies and tools according to the profile of target audience and programme goals is an essential skill.
  • CLTS (Community Led Total Sanitation) experts: with a proven track record (at least 5 years) in supporting capacity development of local line agencies or local NGOs to roll out the STBM (Sanitasi Total Berbasis Masyarakat) programme or equivalent. Ability to steer sanitation demand creation activities in coordination with Local Government is critical; capacity to stimulate sanitation demand and articulate it with sanitation supply chains is highly desirable.
  • Sanitation Programme Managers: professionals with at least 10 years’ experience in managing WASH/WATSAN programmes. The position requires excellent leadership, management and relationship-building skills. Ability to plan, monitor, evaluate and demonstrate the impact of the programme is essential. Experience in team management in the context of multi-cultural, international organizations is also required. The candidate should have a strong background in WASH issues and in particular a good knowledge of demand driven sanitation approaches.
  • Urban Sanitation Public Policy Experts: with at least 15 years’ experience in programme management and a proven track record of support to Local and National Governments in steering Urban Sanitation. The preferred candidates will have a sound knowledge about the major urban sanitation policies and programmes in Indonesia, like USDP, IUWASH, IndII – Water and Sanitation or equivalent. Background in Public Policy/Institutional Development is highly desirable.
  • Public Finance Experts: the successful candidates will have experience in providing technical assistance to Local and/or National Governments in Public Finances planning, control and reporting. Proven track record in supporting urban sanitation programmes is highly desirable and at least 10 years experience in programme/project management is required.
  • Sanitation Communication and Advocacy Experts: at least 5 years experience in developing communication and advocacy strategies to support information about and engagement with sanitation challenges. The preferred candidates will have a proven track record in supporting sanitation demand and ability to engage with the private sector as well.
  • Sanitation engineers: with a relevant university degree (sanitary, environmental or civil engineering), the preferred candidates will have at least 15 years of experience. This experience must include a proven track record in designing and leading feasibility studies for on site and off site sanitation systems. Ability to design Operation and Maintenance procedures as well as capacity to assess and engage private sector counterparts when relevant is highly desirable. Experience in procurement is critical.
  • Provincial and District Government Advisors: the preferred candidates will have at least 5 years’ experience in providing technical support, advice and on the job training for Local Governments staff on urban sanitation issues. Ability to address gender issues in the context of sanitation challenges and develop pro-poor strategies is highly desirable. 
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Expert: with at least 5 years’ experience, the desired candidate will have a relevant university degree and proven track record with planning, monitoring and evaluation methods (both qualitative and quantitative). Capacity to tailor planning and monitoring tools to urban sanitation programme needs is highly desirable.
2) SNV Indonesia is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions for anticipated work in its agriculture, and its commodities and climate change teams:
  • Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader for a Forestry and Land Use Governance project – must possess an advanced degree (master’s or Phd) and at least 15 years of project management experience with at least 5 years of experience of those as a team leader/component leader in a DFID-funded or US government-funded project.  Experience managing 20+ staff or higher preferred. Understanding of natural resource management, forestry and land use preferred.
  • Palm Oil Officers– must possess university degree with at least 5 years experience training farmers or plantation workers; understanding of oil palm agronomy. Position requires 40% travel within Indonesia.
  • Coffee/Cacao/Coconut/Cassava & Carrots Consultants: Short-term consultants for Good Agricultural Practice, Internal Control Systems of farmer organisations, microfinance, post-harvesting quality control and/or certification of agricultural produce. Areas: West Sumatra, East Java, Lombok, Flores. Min. 3 years relevant experience required.
  • Dairy / Cattle Consultants: Short-term consultants for improved feed systems, feed production, good farming practices, clean dairy production and transport, waste management and on-farm production cycles, good milk processing practices and product. Areas: Central and East Java, Lombok, TTU.  Min. 3 years relevant experience required.
