JOB TITLE: Volunteer for Child Sex Tourism Airport Campaign
LOCATION: Tangerang (Soekarno Hatta International Airport)
LENGTH OF TERM: 2 Weeks
ECPAT INDONESIA is
national network organization working with 22 organizations in 11
provinces. We work on advocacy and awareness raising programs to
encourage government and community at large to combat sexual
exploitation against children. We have involved in global campaign to
STOP Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People and employed several
national and regional events upon the issue.
ECPAT INDONESIA is now
looking for a “Volunteer” to join us in our immediate project
implementation. The person will be in general responsible to the
technical and/or substantial matters in the preparation and
implementation of an event. He/she will work under the supervision of a
Program Manager and report to the National Director.
Brief Project Description:
Indonesia has many tourist destinations
spread in almost Indonesia region. The high potential of tourism is
invite many tourist to come and enjoy the Indonesia beauty, but some of
the tourist are wielding to get child sex. Indonesia becomes tourism
destination for pedophilia, 300 pedophile come to Indonesia in 2014. The
demand of child sex in Southeast Asia such as Cambodia, Philippine, and
Indonesia increases quickly and it is hard to estimate the number of
girls who exploited sexually. This is also related to the child
trafficking and serious violation of human right.
In the consultation of South Asia and
Southeast Asia regional of ECPAT that held in Taiwan last august
discussed plan of each members in their state in putting the Commercial
Sexual Exploitation of Children issue and the work program priority. In
the group discussion of Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippine, and
Korea are found same problems and thoughtfulness toward the situation of
child sex exploitation in the tourism and travel sector.
In order to expand the prevention
campaign and raising awareness of society toward child sex tourism
issue, ECPAT Indonesia will be held joint campaign at May 4-17 2015 in
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Tangerang.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Description of tasks:
- Provide information to Soekarno Hatta international airport visitors at 2D and 2E terminals about Child Sex Tourism.
- Distributing Brochure /leaflet
- Documentation / photo booth
Furthermore, volunteers are encouraged to:
Strengthen their knowledge and
understanding of the concept of child right and child sex tourism by
training with ECPAT Indonesia staff.
Results/Expected Output:
- The visitors and passengers of international flights get the information about Child Sex Tourism
- The awareness is raised to prevent CST
Competencies
Candidate must:
- Graduate from senior high education (or student university/any majors will be preferable).
- Have experience in campaign activity
- Have fluent English spoken
- Have developed communication skills
- Have strong flexibility and responsiveness
