Director of Programs, Indonesia

The Director of Programs will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia for a full-time-12-month position – potentially renewable on an annual basis, commencing on 01 January 2015.

The Organization
Search for Common Ground is a non-profit, independent, secular, non-government organization, dedicated to conflict transformation and peacebuilding with headquarters in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium. SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG has programs in 35 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. SFCG Indonesia was founded in 2002 and currently focuses on a wide range of issues including transformative youth leadership, inter-faith relations, and gender equality. Summary of Position
Search for Common Ground seeks a professional, motivated and creative Director of Programs to lead its well-established program team in Jakarta, Indonesia. The DOP will report to the Indonesia Country Director and will be part of SFCG’s Leadership and Management Team (LMT) responsible for a broad range of peacebuilding activities across Indonesia. Duties of the position include leading a dynamic program team in program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and capturing results, being an integral part of the Leadership and Management Team, and maintaining strong relationships with all partners and community members. The position will begin on 01 January 2015.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Program Leadership and Management: to lead and manage all programs and activities within the overall vision and goals of the organization. This includes project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, donor compliance, documentation, and communicating results.
  • Country Office, Leadership and Management: working with the Country Director to develop strategic plans and serve on SFCG Indonesia’s Leadership and Management Team participating in decision making for all aspects of the organization, managing staff performance, development and appraisals, ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Partnerships and Community Relations: working with the Country Director to establish, manage and deepen relationships with the broader Search for Common Ground community including with the donor community, government partners, implementing partners, Search beneficiaries, and alumni.
  • This description is not exhaustive: the DOP will be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
Qualifications Required
  • At least five years of experience in program and grant management including design & strategic planning, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and communicating results. Fundraising experience is also welcomed.
  • Expertise and previous work experience in peacebuilding and conflict transformation related work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, ‎as well as the ability to conduct professional working relationships and to lead and manage a program team.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, creativity, and impartiality, highly organized and detail-oriented, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fluid environment.
  • BA or MA (completed or in progress) in international relations, conflict resolution, international development, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other database and analysis software, as well as social media and online platforms.
  • Written and oral proficiency in English and Indonesian language.
  • Excellent narrative writing and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable in working with those from different ethnic groups and across political lines.
  • Ability to travel and work in the field when necessary.
Desirable
  • 2 years’ operational experience in the peacebuilding /conflict resolution field.
  • Knowledge of the use of behavior change communications and media.
  • Experience in the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of behavior change communications programs.
Salary: Negotiable upon qualifications and work experience.
