MICRA Indonesia is a local foundation founded in 2006 and expand its work over the past eight years in microfinance throughout Indonesia. MICRA’s mission is to build the institutional strength and outreach of the Indonesian microfinance sector and poverty alleviation, by providing a full range of high-quality, best-practice technical inputs and support to all industry stakeholders, in a sustainable and demand-driver manner.

Business Development Manager

Description of Position

This job profile sets out the tasks and duties of the MICRA Indonesia Business Development Unit Manager (hereafter referred to as the Manager). Business development seeks and exploits business opportunities   that are presented to him or for the organization. It involves evaluating a business and then realizing its full potential, using such tools as marketing, sales, information management and customer service. The position of Business Development Manager is to generate new business opportunities for MICRA Indonesia with respect to MICRA Indonesia key products and services. The Manager supports the senior management team with a view to industry-wide implementation based in MICRA Indonesia business plan, working in close cooperation with other Business Unit to develop effective and profitable MICRA Indonesia products and services by providing analysis for evaluating new business opportunities such as collaborative assessment of marketing opportunities and target market, intelligence gathering on customers and competitors, generating leads for possible sales;  Development agreements, alliances and partnership related to micro finance sector and market development. This role is pivotal to the organization achieving its growth and expansion plans.  The Manager reports to Director of MICRA Indonesia.

Qualifications Required

Educational Background
A minimum of Bachelor degree, Master Degree preferred in commerce, finance, economics or business administration.

Key professional requirements include
  • A minimum 7 years of business development experience with considerable sales experience in for profit/not-for-profit organization in development sector; be an organized and strong negotiator, and be aware of and responsive to development sector works and trends in particular related to micro finance and economic development sector and government related policies; 
  • Strong business acumen and service ethos with a thorough understanding of working in an International, environment, service – oriented organization;
  • Strong background in technical areas related to microfinance and understanding of principles, concepts, and practices of microfinance industry;
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of public relations;
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate new business opportunities such as collaborative assessment of marketing opportunities and target market, intelligence gathering on customers and competitors, generating leads for possible sales; 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop agreements, alliances and partnership related to micro finance sector and market development;
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills. Excellent people skills with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team and have excellent presentation skills;
  • Demonstrate capability in people management Includes having self-awareness, listening, giving feedback and assessing performance, understanding and valuing diversity, developing and coaching staff, effectively implementing the hiring and selection process, and preventing and resolving conflict;
  • Demonstrated management experience, especially regarding budget, staffing, program management and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrate Ability to discuss strategic and sensitive issues ;
  • Understand client’s needs and proven ability to collaborate includes partnering, teamwork, building alliances, looking for win-win solutions, and building participative processes. Demonstrates and encourages a cooperative, participative environment where appropriate;
  • Excellent communication includes demonstrates the ability to receive information, as well as present appropriate information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences;
  • Goal-driven and results-oriented, with initiative; Service Orientation, Includes focusing on effectively providing appropriate services to identified client, constituent and stakeholders;
  • Commitment to quality, confidentiality and integrity of MICRA Indonesia and its services, as well as information provided by partners;
  • Fluent spoken and written English;
  • Ability to travel and spend extended periods in the field.
