Family Health International (FHI 360) is a non-profit human development organization dedicated to improving
lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. We
currently seek qualified candidates for the position of Communication Officer
in the Indonesia Country Office based in Jakarta.
Basic Functions: S/he will be
responsible to provide significant technical input to Communication and
Behavior Change interventions implemented by the SUM 1 project, with special
focus on behavior change and communication (demand creation) activities –
design, implementation and evaluation toward the prevention of HIV among key
affected populations. Additionally, s/he
will be responsible to manage social
marketing and communication activities to support availability and access of
key at-risk populations to effective prevention tools, especially condoms. S/he will also be expected to coordinate with
and provide required technical assistance for CSM activities to relevant
institutions, stakeholders and partners.
Duties and
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Coordinate with GOI, technical working groups, provincial staff and other partners to provide technical assistance to ensure that the design and implementation of communication interventions (including appropriate messages and approaches) are consistent with proven behavior change and communication techniques and principles, are of high quality, and deliver effective results according to annual workplans;
- Provide technical assistance and collaborate in the design and implementation of project monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure that they provide necessary input and feedback to program implementation and monitoring for project management and partners;
- Responsible for the coordination, development and success of communication activities and interventions, such as the selection and briefing of creative agencies, key partners involved in program design and implementation, including vendors, consultants, representatives of key affected populations and other partners, as needed.
- Responsible to coordinate communication activities with key partners at the national level, such as MOH, NAC, Global Fund PRs and CSO's, and coordinate with partners and/or other organizations/institutions relevant to SUM 1 social marketing and communication activities;
- Responsible to manage behavior change and communication technical assistance strategies and ensure that implementation plans are on schedule and deliverables are achieved on time, and manage local contracts that assist with research, design and launch activities (incl. identify research needs and assist in the development of research plans);
- Assist with development of condom communication plans and strategies, and provide input and feedback to hotspot and outlet mapping activities and ensure that data are utilized for program development.
- Assist in the collection and development/packaging of reports, lessons learned, success stories and project approaches so that project experiences can be readily made available to partners and donors to improve project performance and inform future design and implementation.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor or Master degree in Communication, Public
Relations, Social Science, Marketing, or related field from a recognized
university or college. 5 or more years’
relevant work experience; at least 3 years working in HIV or related field.
Must have excellent communication skills, including fluency in written and
spoken English, and computer skills. Able to work independently and as a team
member. Previous experience with I/NGOs would be an asset, especially with
USAID contract.
