Job Vacancy: Civil Society Strengthening Coordinator (CSSC) at EMAS-MuhammadiyahThe Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) project is five years USAID-funded project that seeks to reduce maternal and newborn mortality in Indonesia. EMAS will focus on improving the quality of emergency obstetric and newborn care provided by health facilities and on strengthening referral systems in the emergency of maternal and neonatal.
EMAS supports the central government, provincial, and district levels to network with civil society organizations, public and private health facilities, hospital associations, professional organizations, and other sectors. EMAS aims to reduce maternal mortality and newborn in Indonesia up 25%.
EMAS is currently implemented in 30 districts located in 6 provinces with maternal mortality and neonatal highest in Indonesia.
EMAS is run by a consortium of six institutions, namely; JHPIEGO, Lembaga Kesehatan Budi Kemuliaan (LKBK), Muhammadiyah, Save the Children and RTI International.
Currently, we are seeking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of:

Overview:
EMAS will give technical assistant in strengthening accountability for quality clinical and referral system. EMAS will enhancement of civic forums to gather feedback, and then use that feedback to advocate to local government. Our vision is that civic forums will become increasingly involved in ensuring that audit findings or other gaps are acted upon. Using CSO members and leaders as MCH Motivators (MKIA) to ensure that women can access skilled care and are aware of social insurance to access that care.
Working closely with provincial staff (Civil Society Officer) with oversight by Jakarta-based technical advisors, the CE coordinator will provide support and guidance to all EMAS supported civil engagement activities at the district level and will assist with implementation of specific EMAS Project activities including assisting the role of civic forum in maternal and neonatal health, analyzing civil society involvement through civic index, strengthening the accountability of clinical services through civic forum involvement in understanding service charter and citizen feedback. In addition, the CE coordinator will work together with provincial and district level EMAS staff to build relationships with regional stakeholders such as District Health Offices, local community organizations, and community and professional leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the civic forum at the district level as directed and consistent with overall EMAS project goals and objectives
- Ensure national guidelines and best practices are incorporated into EMAS activities at the district level.
- Assist in the implementation of civic engagement including civics index, citizen feedback, service charter, civic forum and motivator kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (MKIA)
- Assist the implementation of community survey satisfaction on maternal and neonatal services at the district level.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and partners at the district level.
- Participate in team activities as requested and not jeopardizes its main role.
- Participate in strategic meetings and planning exercises with District, Provincial and National staff.
- Compile technical reports as directed.
- Work with EMAS staff to prepare and track the progress of project activities.
- Organize technical assistance visits by the EMAS component 2 advisory team, EMAS partners, and consultants.
- Minimum bachelor degree any major. Social science and public health graduated preferred.
- Experience in working closely with civil society organization and community
- Strong leadership skills as well as technical capacity to support the role of civic forum and MKIA in maternal and neonatal death rate reduction
- Ability to conduct and monitor the role of civil society organization and MKIA, focal group discussion and assisting civic forum and MKIA
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
- Able to work independent
- Strong interpersonal, writing and oral presentation communication skills in Bahasa Indonesian and English
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and pressure to perform
- Ability to travel to designated districts and facilities within the province as needed
- Experience working on NGO projects preferred
