Brief Overview of our Programme in Indonesia
The IR programme in Indonesia was first established in 2003 with a focus on integrated development in Banten Province.

In the aftermath of the devastating Tsunami, IR initiated a large-scale humanitarian relief and recovery programme which continues to remain in operation albeit now with a growing focus on sustainable development. It was about the same time that IR also extended its developmental activities to other parts of the greater Java island including Sukabumi in West Java and East and West Lombok in NTB Province. Later in October 2009, IR expanded its geographic coverage to provide emergency relief, livelihoods recovery and DRR related support to earthquake victims in West Sumatra. The agency is presently implementing multi-sectoral emergency relief, recovery and development interventions in Aceh Darussalam and West Sumatra with the intention to re-establish programme activities in NTB (Lombok) and West Java.

The main sectors of interventions in Indonesia are health, disaster preparedness, education, shelter, livelihoods and orphans’ support. The geographical areas of operation are Aceh, West Sumatera, and West NusaTenggara provinces.

Reporting Lines:

Post holder reports to : Child Welfare and Protection Program Coordinator

Child Welfare and Protection Field Officer reaches out to the neediest children families within the designated program area and implements different child welfare activities building on IR core child focused activity of one to one orphan sponsorship in an integrated way that leads to sustainable community development.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General :
  • Assists in developing and running of Islamic Relief one to one orphan sponsorship program as per its implementation strategy set out in the Orphan Policy and Procedure 
  • Prepares the community situational report and the individual situational reports of the needy children of the targeted community focusing on their health, education, shelter, emotional and other basic needs 
  • Select children from the poorest families and upload their bio-data for one to one sponsorship 
  • Form cooperatives of the guardians of the orphan families and attend their meetings. Document and report the issues discussed in the meetings to your line manager. 
  • Devise short project, training or mutual help activity based on the issues specific to each Orphans Guardians Cooperative 
  • Periodically monitor the progress achieved against the community and children individual profiles. Do the analysis of the old and new reports and take necessary actions (continuation of sponsorship or cancelation) 
  • Upload annual progress reports of the sponsored orphans 
  • Maintain close coordination with Child Welfare Department in IRHQ and meet the entire communication requirement for the smooth running of the activities 
  • Network with other organizations working for the women and children 
  • Attend child protection cluster meetings or other such forums in your program area or field office etc 
  • Look for child issues i.e. child abuse, street children, child trafficking etc and report to your line manager
  • Assist your line manager in developing project proposals that caters to the needs of the child issues
  • Maintain record of the child welfare activities i.e. individual orphans personal fileseach comprising of field visit reports, bio-data, date of birth certificates, death certificates, drawing, correspondence between orphan and the donor, TOR, etc
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all electronic and hard data of orphans including their pictures and pictures of other family members
  • Maintain record of pictures of each sponsored orphan in chronological order and use these pictures for the purpose of that orphan’s bio-data, progress reports and case studies
  • Undertake any other task assigned by the line manager
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES FOR CLANER AND DRIVER:
  • Able to fluently interact with children and family 
  • Able to organize and lead community meeting 
  • Computer literacy to support the monitoring and reporting activity 
  • Skill related to individual counseling would be an advantage 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in bahasa Indonesia and cross-cultural environment 
  • Familiar with NTB areas regarding IRI Project Areas (Lombok Barat and Lombok Timur) 
  • University degree in management, social and other relevant studies.
  • Proven 2 years of Child Protection issues experiences in an NGO. 
  • Good writing and communication skill (English and Bahasa Indonesia) 
  • Excellent knowledge of computer operation (Windows, Excel, Power Point) 
  • Willing to undergo develop own capacity 
  • Strong interest in development work with respect for confidentiality and commitment to Islamic Relief overall aims and objectives, including gender, equality and equal opportunities in all aspects of Islamic Relief’s work. 
  • Proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations 
  • Capacity to work under time pressure and sometimes extra hours
  • High level of motivation
  • Attention to detail and the ability to be systematic and organized 
  • Takes a proactive approach to handle the jobs 
  • Actively establishes and maintains high standards 
  • Ability to work independently with reasonable skills at prioritization
  • Willingness to learn and accept guidance for personal improvement 
  • Commitment to Islamic Relief aims, beliefs and objectives
