Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the German
International Cooperation implementing sustainable development on behalf of the
German Government.
GIZ has a record of more than 20 years of involvement in renewable energy
(RE) in Indonesia. Starting from rural electrification and mini hydropower, the
portfolio expanded to other renewable energies and larger grid connected
systems such as biomass/biogas and photovoltaics. GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and
Mineral Resources (MEMR), the Ministry of Home Affairs and the ASEAN Centre for
Energy is presently implementing four different projects. GIZ aims to
strengthen capacity building in the Indonesian RE sector and strives to support

Junior Advisor
for Solar Energy
The position is to be manned as soon as possible.
A. Responsibilities
- Provide support and facilitate the communication between public and private project partners
- Support the implementation of public - private activities in solar energy project development, especially in the fishing and tourism industry sector
- Support the documentation of achieved project development results
B. Tasks
1. Coordination and
Networking
- Support the coordination of national and international consultants and service providers in pursuance of fixed deliverables
- Maintain and develop close contacts to relevant Governmental counterparts, private industry, NGOs, other governmental institutions

Project Implementation
- Support the technical and socioeconomic feasibility assessment of solar pilot projects in close coordination with LCORE advisors and/or external consultants
- Support the evaluation and monitoring of solar pilot project
3.
Knowledge management
- Prepare reports and publications
- Prepare presentation materials such as brochures and power-point presentations
- Stay abreast of developments in global and Indonesian approaches for renewable energies
4.
Other duties / additional tasks
- Subject to discussions with the Senior Advisor, the candidate may be allocated additional tasks and other duties for shorter periods.

Required
qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
- Science orientated master’s degree, with good understanding of socio-economic aspects or a social science master degree, with good understanding of the technical aspects of renewable energies. Prior experience in solar energy project design and evaluation in Indonesia is advantageous.
- Very good communication skills with national stakeholders and experience in working in an international organisation
- Focussed and proactive working attitude
Professional experience
- Familiar with the major issues of renewable energy in Indonesia, ideally with previous exposure to the sector through working with or for state entities or the private energy sector.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
- Very good knowledge of English, including writing capabilities, very good knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia;
- Availability to travel within Indonesia for short-term project visits
