WASH Officer position - Islamic Relief Indonesia - for NTB Project

Brief Overview of our Programme in Indonesia
The IR programme in Indonesia was first established in 2003 with a focus on integrated development in Banten Province.

In the aftermath of the devastating Tsunami, IR initiated a large-scale humanitarian relief and recovery programme which continues to remain in operation albeit now with a growing focus on sustainable development. It was about the same time that IR also extended its developmental activities to other parts of the greater Java island including Sukabumi in West Java and East and West Lombok in NTB Province. Later in October 2009, IR expanded its geographic coverage to provide emergency relief, livelihoods recovery and DRR related support to earthquake victims in West Sumatra. The agency is presently implementing multi-sectoral emergency relief, recovery and development interventions in Aceh Darussalam and West Sumatra with the intention to re-establish programme activities in NTB (Lombok) and West Java.
 
The main sectors of interventions in Indonesia are health, disaster preparedness, education, shelter, livelihoods and orphans’ support. The geographical areas of operation are Aceh, West Sumatera, and West NusaTenggara provinces.
 
Islamic Relief are looking for a position as mentioned below:

1.    WASH/CLTS OFFICER

REPORTING LINES:
Post holder reports to : AREA COORDINATOR / HEAD OF OFFICE
 
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1.        Responsible for day to day management for the WASH project
2.        Coordinating with related stakeholders for providing potable water and CLTS programme orientation prior to implementation
3.        Helping coordination with and liaisons for government, communities and other stakeholders
4.        Providing facilitation for focus group discussion, KAP surveys, lesson learnt, etc.
5.        Supervise the drilling activity conducted by partner and provide the drilling progress report
6.        Developing monthly action plan and implementing CLTS and hygiene behavior change programme based on the project implementation plan
7.        Providing supports and trainings of WMC and ODEC, workshop as necessary for adequacy of quality and quantity.
8.        Assisting the WMC and ODEC to conduct regular sub village inspections for water scheme system and ODF
9.        Actively involve in project monitoring and evaluation activities according to schedule, budget and quality
10.     Ensuring the implementation HAP standards, Sphere standards in the project
11.     Ensuring IR gender policy are part of the work carried out and ensuring women’s consultation and participation in activities
Other task as directed by the line manager
 
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
 
 
§  Local Hired (from NTB) who familiar with IRI Project Area (Sekaroh – Lombok Timur)
§  University degree in management, social science, environtment, health and other relevant studies.
§  Proven 3 years of WASH related experiences in an NGO.
§  Experiences in drilling wells, water scheme system, proper latrines and drainage system
§  Experiences in community outreach method: PRA, MPA-PHAST/CLTS
§  Experience of project management cycle Good interpersonal skill
§  Good leadership, supervisory & management skill
§  Good writing and communication skill
§  Excellent knowledge of computer operation (Windows, Excel, Power Point)
§  Willing to undergo develop own capacity
§  Strong interest in development work with respect for confidentiality and commitment to Islamic Relief overall aims and objectives, including gender, equality and equal opportunities in all aspects of Islamic Relief’s work.
