WWF Vacancy: Conservation Director, Jakarta

We are the largest nature conservation NGO in Indonesia, which has started its activity since 1962. Currently, we have 28 offices, from Aceh to Papua and has a total of more than 400 staff. Since 2006, our organization supported by more than 54,000 supporters from all over the archipelago.

We are currently seeking a highly qualified, experienced candidate, who has reputable qualifications for : Conservation Director (to be based in Jakarta), Code : CDJKT

The Conservation Director will provide intellectual leadership to coordinate, facilitate and support conservation program, and to deliver high quality conservation successes by taking the responsibility in the overall implementation of our conservation actions, as prescribed in our organization 5-year strategic plans. The preferred candidate should have a proven track record and experiences in conservation management for similar size and/or type organization with exceptional management, communication, negotiation and leadership skills. The Conservation Director oversees works of the Policy, Transformation and Sustainability Director and three Place-based Directors, while he/she reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the organization.
 
Requirements:
  • He/she is an Indonesian national with a university degree in environmental science, conservation management, natural resource management, or other background related to nature conservation or rural development; preferably holds a post-graduate degree from reputable university;
  • A minimum 12-year experience in program development and conservation management in a respected conservation organization or relevant institutions;
  • Deep understanding on global conservation challenges, in particular in the developing countries, familiarity with the current state of knowledge, policy and practices regarding sustainability issues including corporate and community engagements, market transformation, and unsustainable production and consumption patterns;
  • Ability to coordinate workplan and budgeting, to provide directions to a large group of professionals, to coordinate staff with various backgrounds, and to ensure collaboration;
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop, analyze and assess technical reports, proposals, and relevant synthesis; with knowledge in public policy, advocacy and fundraising;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact constructively with different stakeholders, in English and Bahasa Indonesia (incl. oral presentation and writing);
  • Ability to lead the development of partnership with to with government agencies, private sector and other civil society organizations.
