The Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GIZ is commissioned by Bundesministerium für Umwelt (BMU) to set up a Strategic Partnership for Supported NAMAs and Climate Finance which Support the Indonesia Climate Change Trust Fund  (ICCTF).  BMU-ICCTF project is looking for:

Junior Technical Project Professional

A.       Responsibilities
The Project Assistant Manager provides support for
  • The Programme Manager in carrying out project activities 
  • Coordinating project activities 
  • Carrying out specific research tasks which are required for planning the implementation of projects or programmes  
  • Carrying out specific tasks in connection with knowledge management for the project/programme 
  • The team leader in carrying out project activities
The Project Assistant Manager performs the following tasks:

B.       Tasks
1.      Coordination and monitoring
The Project Assistant Manager
  • Puts together an overview of project/programme activities, deadlines etc. and presents this regularly at team meetings 
  • Supports project monitoring and updates information on project progress, documents and reports regularly on the status of results 
  • Assists with recording and documenting the results of all activities 
  • Draws up media analyses, participates in forum and public hearings on issues directly connected with the project/programme 
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects 
  • Orders and distributes PR materials on the project/programme as well as GIZ PR materials 
  • Assists with PR work for the project/programme 
  • Assists short-term experts assigned to projects/programmes in completing their tasks
2.      Research
The Project Assistant Manager
  • In consultation with the manager, prepares and carries out qualitative research projects (developing survey instruments, field trials, training field staff, organisational preparation in the field, collecting and analysing data)
3.      Knowledge management
The Project Assistant Manager
  • Assists translations 
  • Writing reports 
  • Establishes a project database  
  • Assists in communicating, updating and collecting information 
  • Organises and updates project documentation, the filing systems and the project library
4.      Implementation of project activities
The Project Assistant Manager
  • Develops business model and budgets
  • Following up new business opportunities and setting up meetings 
  • Planning and preparing presentations 
  • Communicating new product developments to prospective funders 
  • Overseeing the development of marketing literature 
  • Providing management with feedback
5.      General obligations
The Project Assistant Manager
  • Is familiar with GIZ planning, implementation and reporting procedures and their changes 
  • Is familiar with other programme components and GIZ-assisted measures, concepts and status of implementation and knows the corresponding experts and staff
  • Represents the interest of the GIZ-assisted measure and always acts on its behalf 
  • Carries out important tasks for the project/programme, even if these are not explicitly cited in the job description
6.      Other duties/additional tasks
The Project Assistant Manager
  • Assists other experts, if necessary as translator 
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
C.      Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
  • University degree in the area of financial/economic background 
  • Good business sense 
  • A deep understanding of marketing principles 
  • Good project and time management skills 
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
Professional experience
  • Initial experience in this area
Other knowledge, additional competences
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, Access or other database programme) 
  • Good knowledge of the European language widely used in the country, ideally a knowledge of German 
  • Experience of project management and research experience in an area related to the project’s requirements is desirable 
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
