The Australian Government has been providing support for the legal
and justice sector in Indonesia for more than 10 years.
In 2011, Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ)
started a five-year new
program.
Entering the third implementation year, AIPJ focuses on the effort to
“Fulfilling Rights,” which
has been defined to include the rights to obtain legal identity (birth
certificate, marriage certificate and divorce certificate), to be judged by a fair, clean and accessible court system and to obtain information (about legal
proceeding).
The Government of Australia
through AIPJ supports the Government of Indonesia and focuses its approach to
try and mitigate the cost, the distance and the complicated procedure. It aims
to support the establishment of policies and mechanisms that will make the
process cheaper, that will reach people by going to the villages instead of
passively waiting in the office, and to simplify the procedures and
requirements.
To increase people’s access to legal
identity in the form of birth certificate and marriage certificate, focusing on
women living in poverty, vulnerable children and people with disability. In
this particular initiative, we believe that communications can have an impact
on that objective by creating the demand.
To provide such support, AIPJ is
conducting a procurement process to select a company/implementing agency.
The
deadline to submit proposals is Monday, 17 February, at 3 PM.
