Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany's longest established and
largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered Indonesia following the May
2006 earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief;
reconstruction and training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and
livelihoods sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster risk reduction education
and a regional leader in providing innovative DRR services and solutions to
people with disabilities.
ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from creative, committed and
energetic individuals for the following position:
Communications and Public Engagement Officer
Location: Yogyakarta, Indonesia (with possible travel)
Duration: 12 months initial contract (including 3 month probation period)
Start: Immediate
Vacancy: National position
Salary: ASB offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience

Summary of job profile:
This position is to represent and promote the activities and key messages of ASB and the Disability-inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Network for Asia-Pacific (DiDRRN) regionally and globally to key development actors and the general public. Activities are to link directly with the post-2015 development process.
Expected experience and qualifications:
1. Proven track record in marketing/social marketing or similar.
2. Web-design and maintenance.
3. Demonstrable success in engagement at scale through social media.
4. Ability to pitch key messages to varied audiences.
5. Excellent written and spoken English.
6. Creativity and the ability to grasp and communicate new ideas quickly.
7. Outstanding communication skills.
8. Excellent inter-personal skills.
9. Ability to work with a range of partners and stakeholders
10. Understanding of the post-2015 development process will be required.
11. Knowledge of key issues in DRR an advantage.
12. Understanding of disability and inclusion an advantage.
13. Enthusiasm.
14. Critical thinking and a creative approach to problem solving highly valued.
