Greenpeace campaigns have been vital in informing government policies on the environment and effecting changes in business practices which lead to various environmental problems.

Greenpeace in Southeast Asia
Greenpeace opened our first office in Southeast Asia in 2000. In that time we have led successful campaigns throughout the region, securing fresher air, cleaner water and a healthier environment through changing industry practices and government policies. Greenpeace actively campaigns across the region to catalyze an energy revolution, protect ancient forests and our oceans, create a toxics-free future and create a shift to sustainable
agriculture.

Greenpeace has three offices in Southeast Asia—in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines and each office is composed of six departments: Campaigns, Fundraising, Communications, Mass Mobilization, Human Resources and Organizational Support.  Currently, Greenpeace has more than a 150 staff across the region, excluding the direct dialogue fundraisers.

THE POST:  REGIONAL MAJOR GIFTS FUNDRAISER
Job Summary:

The Major Gifts Fundraiser reports directly to the Fundraising Director of Greenpeace SEA and has responsibility to plan, manage and coordinate the solicitation of major gifts to Greenpeace and ensure the appropriate stewardship of these gifts to deliver income growth. Focusing on donations of EUR 5,000 and upwards, this income falls into three main streams as follows:
  • Coordinating the fundraising efforts and administration of restricted gifts coming in from other Greenpeace offices
  • Leading the development of local foundation fundraising
  • Cultivating individual major donors from the Greenpeace Southeast Asia databases
The Major Gifts fundraiser carries out the delivery, coordination and management of all fundraising strategies related to major gift income within the region. In order to do this they maintain a large network of internal regional Greenpeace relationships that are key to the success of major gift fundraising including the Executive Director, campaigns team, finance teams and fundraising teams as well as key staff at both GPI and other Greenpeace offices. The Major Gifts fundraiser will be expected to travel both within the Southeast Asia region and internationally and develop and maintain excellent relationships with all major gift funders through strong and personal communication covering face to face, telephone and written communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce the annual and multi-year strategies, plans and budgets for all types of major gift fundraising within Greenpeace Southeast Asia. These plans and budgets will be developed alongside the Fundraising Director, Executive Director and Finance department at Greenpeace Southeast Asia and in coordination with other Greenpeace funding offices.
  • Coordinate support for the fundraising efforts of other Greenpeace NROs and GPI when they are generating funds for Greenpeace Southeast Asia from international funders. This work will be a support role for the lead fundraiser and will coordinate on-the-ground resource within the region, bringing together the Executive Director, Finance, Fundraising and Campaigns to enable successful fundraising proposals and ongoing reporting and relationship building with the foundations.
  • Identify key priority projects, create potential Major Donor/Foundation Fundraising opportunities and monitor ongoing campaign projects. In coordination with the campaigns and finance teams identify changes to funding agreements that will affect those agreements and their reporting criteria.
  • Proposal,  report writing and financial tracking and reporting for all major gift opportunities
  • Ensure a current and central overview of all proposals, funding given and fund transfers to Greenpeace Southeast Asia, in order to support Major Donor/Foundation funding and ensure this information is available for a timely report back to donors as well as internal support structures
  • Lead and develop local and regional foundation relationships and income within the Southeast Asia region. This will include researching, approaching and developing new relationships across the region as well as maintain the current database of foundations.
  • Prospect, research and initiate contact with individual high net worth supporters from our country databases and from other relevant networks
  • Cultivate relationships with high net worth individuals, developing structured communication plans and relevant key contacts in order to generate high value donations
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for ensuring that major donors and foundations are regularly updated on Greenpeace’s activities and achievements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar tracking cultivation and solicitation for the portfolio of major donors and foundations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports and financial analyses to track progress in engaging major donors and foundations.
  • Manage the yearly regional major gifts budget
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested or assigned by the Fundraising Director and Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University graduate, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications
  • At least three years middle management fundraising, sales or customer service experience preferably in the international NGO sector

  • Decision Making The position works under the general direction of the Fundraising Director and also maintains regular contact with the Executive Director. The position demonstrates considerable independence and initiative with respect to decision-making, and provides leadership for the development and implementation of Greenpeace SEA’s major gifts strategy

WORKING HOURS
Normal hours of work for full time Employee will be forty (40) per week or (5) days in a week, at 8 hours per day excluding an hour lunch break. This will be from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am to 6: 30 pm.

Ordinary hours of work may be varied as agreed between staff and the line managers.

LEAVE
A permanent employee will be entitled to the following leaves: Annual Leave: 20 days
Parental Leave:  As per labor laws and Greenpeace policy Sabbatical leave: 2 months paid leave after 5 years of continuous service Compassionate leave: maximum of 5 days for the death of significant others

In determining salary offer for this position, Greenpeace applies its Salary Grading Process, taking into consideration the job description and applicant’s previous experience, and the organization’s salary grade.
