Jalan Sesama is a
multimedia early education initiative in Indonesia. Jalan Sesama, was
initiated in 2006 through a partnership between Sesame Workshop New York
and PT Creative Indigo Production in Jakarta. Since then, Jalan Sesama
has educated and entertained children across Indonesia, and has proven
to have a measurable impact. Extending beyond television, Jalan Sesama
also reaches audiences across the archipelago in print, online, radio,
and fairs and performances.
In 2011, Jalan Sesama was awarded to build new outreach initiative in coastal area of Papua, Indonesia. Jalan Sesama established targeted health educational outreach programs in early education and development (ECED) centers and households as well as the development and broadcast of a series of radio plays. Jalan Sesama develop and distribute outreach materials that are designed specifically for the Papuan context and speak to local realities. As the follow-up of the previous Papua Project, and based on the needs identified during the feasibility study in 2012, Jalan Sesama planned to expand the reach of the health promotion project by targeting the Papuan Highlands Areas.
We are looking for highly passionate individuals to fulfill these strategic project-based position:
Research Coordinator (Jakarta-Based) – 3 Months Project
Reporting to the Program Manager, the primary responsibility of the Research Coordinator is to oversee the formative research activities for the Outreach Materials and work with the production team to assure the educational integrity of the materials. Under the supervision of the Program Manager; the Research Coordinator prepares, manages, and executes the project’s formative research plan in a timely-mannered. Research Coordinators prepares proposal and detailed plan for the formative research, manages the recruitment of research assistant and data collectors, or any research agency that will conduct the data collections, manages data collection, analysis, report writing, presentations and other research tasks, and maintains communications with other institutions pertaining research activities.

Requirements
- Degree in Developmental Psychology, Education or similar field
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with children
- Experience in research
- Familiarity with and sensitivity to children and people from various backgrounds and circumstances in Indonesia
- Team player
- Ability to work under tight timelines
- Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English
- Experience managing budgets and staff
- Facility with basic and statistical software (PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, SPSS)
