Background

IBCA will organize a private sector response to the growing HIV/AIDS problem in Indonesia and assist company employers to develop and implement comprehensive workplace HIV/AIDS programs.
It will work within the framework of the National Strategic Plan. The focus of IBCA is to initiate and offer a standard HIV in the workplace program to the private sector by performing as a clearing house for information, training materials, policy development and implementation; the main liaison office between government and employers on HIV/AIDS workplace responses. The IBCA Office marketing and Communications Unit provides communications and information management support to all IBCA members and its potential customers. When target audiences are well informed, projects are more successful and the broader goal of IBCA is readily achieved. To execute this strategy, we are working closely with private sector in Indonesia and as well as our counterparts in civil society, the media, UN, donors and the Government of Indonesia.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Manager, the Advocacy and Communication Officer will be responsible for following terms of reference:
Overall Responsibilities:
- Support the IBCA Office in the development and implementation of the Advocacy and Communication Work Plan.
- Develop and implement an advocacy strategy and media partnership plan to increase the number of IBCA Members from all provinces in Indonesia.
- Identify (independently and in a team) interesting and innovative strategies for creating stakeholder and community awareness of IBCA.
- Develop and implement a media strategy for World AIDS Day (WAD).
- Maintain and regularly update the IBCA website so that it is constantly relevant to members, partners and guests.
- Establish and maintain a media database for IBCA, incorporating up-to-date information on local and international journalists/media organizations.
- Write, edit and distribute the IBCA Quarterly newsletter.
- Writing and distribution of Press Releases.
- Assist in design/layout of publications and other visibility promotional materials. Provide supervision in printing and production.
- Maintain photo library, press clipping library and other documentations.
Others:
- Assist and facilitate external media productions such as professional photo and video coverage of IBCA project activities. Participate in media briefings and accompany media during field visits, upon request.
- Support Event Management activities as required.
- Liaise with local print and audio-visual media for dissemination of project outputs to the wider communities and business associations in the region.
- Liaise with local suppliers for printing and delivery of communication materials and assist in carrying out administrative functions in the preparation of local purchase requisition orders.
- Liaise and follow up with finance on all purchase orders to ensure payments made to suppliers for communication activities.
- Perform any other related duties as required upon request by the Program Coordinator and indirectly by the team, and support day-to-day implementation of project activities, as requested.
Academic qualifications and Experience:
- Development planning, marketing, communications, publishing, graphic designing, journalism, advertising, information management or other related fields. Basic understanding of HIV and AIDS related issues.
- At least 1-2 years of professional experience. Previous work experience in development/international organization will be an advantage.
- Experience in programming, mainly advocacy and willingness to learn new area of work especially HIV&AIDS. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, In Design, CorelDraw, Illustrator, Page maker or other web/graphic design software will be an advantage.
- A good team player with communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in a multicultural environment. Personal willingness and respect to work with HIV positive colleagues.
Language requirements:
Fluency in English with excellent verbal and drafting skills.
