KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is a prominent knowledge and expertise
center which stimulates effective, efficient and sustainable
tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context.
It operates from the central office in The Hague in the Netherlands,
regional offices and additional country offices worldwide. The
organization was founded in 1903 by a private Dutch initiative and now
operates worldwide. For its funding KNCV is dependent on government
subsidies and private contributions through fundraising.
TB CARE I
The Tuberculosis Coalition for Technical Assistance (TBCTA) carries out
the USAID funded TB CARE I project. KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is the
Prime Partner of TB CARE I besides ATS, FHI360, JATA, MSH, The Union and
WHO.The objective is to decrease morbidity and mortality by increasing
case detection and treatment success of pulmonary TB patients in USAID
priority countries.
Purpose of position
You will act as the Country Director for the implementation of the USAID
funded TBCARE I project in Indonesia, for which KNCV is the lead
partner. You will coordinate and work closely together with other
technical partners in the Tuberculosis Coalition for Technical
Assistance (TBCTA) which implements the TBCARE project in the country
(ATS, FHI, MSH, WHO, The Union. Jata). Besides managing the TBCARE I
project, you will act as KNCV’s country representative and work in close
coordination with Government of Indonesia (in particular the National
TB Program – NTP - in the Ministry of Health) and other stakeholders in
TB control such as private sector and NGO’s. The project also
coordinates closely with the NTP on the implementation of a TB grant
from the Global Fund Against AIDS, TB and Malaria. You will be
responsible for the overall management of the KNCV office situated in
Jakarta. The office has about 90 staff working closely with the Ministry
of Health on tuberculosis control activities, at headquarter and
provincial level and mange an annual budget close to $US 10 million. You
will support Indonesia government achieving the Millennium Development
Goals for tuberculosis through the implementation of TB CARE I. Your
working area will be Indonesia.
The TB CARE I Country director reports to the head of the Region
Asia, Central Asia and Latin America in the central office of KNCV.
The position is for 1 year, with the intention to prolong this, depending on performance and funding.
Who are we looking for?
You are a strong (project) manager with at least 15 years experience in
complex international health program implementation and at least 5
years’ experience in managing considerable annual budgets, implemented
by different partners. You have an advanced degree in public health such
as a post-graduate training (MPH or MSc). Ideally you have knowledge
and experience in working with TB or infection diseases and you are
experienced with the implementation of various components of the Stop-TB
Strategy. You have experience in working in a developing country,
preferably in Asia.
You are a strong team leader oriented towards results, decisive and
teambuilding skills.
Experience with USAID projects and Global Fund is
an important asset You are fluent in English, both verbally and in
writing. Active knowledge and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is an
important advantage. You will make frequent duty travels inside
Indonesia, and 2-3 consultative times per year abroad.
